St Ambroeus FC & AS Velasca join Show Racism the Red Card
28 July 2021
The Italian teams St Ambroeus and AS Velasca from Milan, made a statement against racism during their match.
The initiative was promoted by St Ambroeus FC. The club was founded in 2018 and currently plays in the Third Division. It has around 50 players, most of whom are immigrants from different countries, such as Senegal, Gambia , Cameroon, Morocco, El Salvador and many more.
Due to the cultural variety of its players and the different nationalities, the club has suffered several racist incidents, one of which after posting an article on Facebook about the club that generated numerous racist comments. Apart from this, the racist incidents that the club has suffered on the football field were reported, and in one occasion a match was suspended and postponed because of it.
St Ambroeus work on various initiatives to use football as a tool for development and social integration, with the desire to make their project known to as many people as possible.
Among the projects in which the club has participated, apart from our Show Racism the Red Card campaign, we would like to also highlight their participation in the documentary “Right to Play” from Football Makes History. See the video below:
