Burnley FC

Burnley FC in the Community is the award-winning, official charity of Burnley Football Club. They believe in the immense power of our football club to transform people’s lives for the better. We work hard every day to deliver our mission to inspire, support and deliver change to communities across Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, the Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire and internationally.”

THEIR VISION

Burnley FC in the Community is a self-financing registered charity with a mission to support communities, inspire communities and deliver change in communities. This is achieved through the delivery of three community objectives: 1. To provide tangible community outcomes across our key themes of work including sports participation, education, health, social inclusion and community facilities. 2. To be a self-financing, viable charity embedded within the ethos of the football club. 3. To work with individuals and organisations to establish strong partnerships which helps us develop and deliver worthwhile and beneficial community projects.

THEIR WORK

Their work is channelled into five key areas: sport, education, health, social inclusion and community facilities. Our highly-skilled, dynamic and passionate team now deliver over 40 community projects that touch the lives of a huge spectrum of people in and around Burnley. From children and young people right through to senior citizens. Though they are embedded within the ethos of Burnley FC, BFCitC are financially independent from the football club. They rely on fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships and grants to do the work they do. They carry out a range of activities on a daily basis in Sport, Health, Inclusion, Education and Facilities. Many of these activities are carried out year round at Turf Moor and the surrounding area.

ANTI-RACISM

The foundation integrated the Show Racism the Red Card Europe campaign into their existing Community Welfare and Inclusing programming. Recently, participants of their PLKicks & Disability Sport sessions showed racism the red card. By integrating the red card into their programming, Burnley FC in the Community shows that the fight against racism is an important one and that racism and discrimination must be tackled at all times. Previously, Burnley FC has already worked together with the leading anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card UK by delivering workshops on racism and discrimination in local schools.
