BRENTFORD FC COMMUNITY SPORTS TRUST
With community work spanning three decades, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire people from all walks of life. Their vision is to use sport to engage, inspire and empower people in West London to achieve their life goals. The community programmes tackle diverse social issues, including inclusion, community cohesion, deprivation, physical activity, education and health.
Consortium partner Show Racism the Red Card Europe
Brentford FC CST is one of the eight consortium partners in the Show Racism the Red Card programme. They are funded to deliver the Diversity Wins programme in schools in London. Brentford FC CST will deliver 3 phases of a five-week school programme to about 60 different classes in total. Additionally, Brentford FC CST have been delivering online workshops to 25 classes from different schools in the West-London area. Brentford player Sergi Canos played an important role in the official programme launch in October 2019, by promoting a positive message to the community.
‘‘We are looking forward to launching our delivery phase across a wide number of different schools. This programme adds significant value to the current community work the Trust delivers and is a great opportunity to strengthen our current schools’ partnerships and provision. It brings a creative balance between promoting physical activity while educating and raising awareness about key diversity and inclusion topics, ultimately aiming to encourage more inclusive future generations,’’ said Brentford Community Sports Trust Marketing and Commercial Manager Tomas Abreu, who will lead the project.
